Police investigate vandalism at Edinburgh mosque
Police are investigating a report of vandalism at Edinburgh Central Mosque.
Police Scotland said it received a report of vandalism in the Potterow area of Edinburgh that was believed to have happened at about 9:30pm on Friday.
In a social media post on Saturday, Edinburgh Central Mosque said: "Last night, Edinburgh Central Mosque was targeted with hate graffiti.
"The incident has been reported to Police Scotland, and we will be co-operating fully with their investigation."
It continued: "Anyone with information relating to this incident is encouraged to contact Police Scotland directly."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.25pm on Saturday January 17 we received a report of vandalism to a building in the Potterrow area of Edinburgh.
"It's believed the incident happened around 9.30pm on Friday January 16.
"Officers are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances."
