Pedestrian killed in Grangemouth crash named as police search for two witnesses
Police believe a man and woman stopped at the scene on Monday night
Police have named a pedestrian who died after being hit by a Ford Fiesta in Grangemouth as Sean McGinley.
The 24 year old was pronounced dead at the scene, after the crash on Newlands Road at around 11.15pm on Monday 17 August.
Hi next of kin have been informed.
The 35 year old man who was driving the car was taken to hospital as a precaution and arrested in connection with the incident.
It is understood he has been released pending further investigation, as police appeal for witnesses who may have stopped at the scene prior to their arrival to come forward.
Officers believe a dark coloured vehicle stopped initially at the scene, immediately after the crash, with a man and woman getting out and speaking to the driver.

Sergeant Michael Shillington said: “We know there were a number of witnesses who assisted at the scene prior to emergency services attending.
“Specifically, we’re keen to hear from two people who we believed stopped behind the Fiesta following the crash and spoke with the driver.
"They are potential witnesses and we are eager to hear from them.”
He added: “Equally anyone who has relevant dashcam or video footage is asked to provide this at their earliest opportunity.”
