Pedestrian dies three days after being hit by car in Edinburgh

A man has died in hospital three days after being struck by a car in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Chesser Avenue around 12.21am on Saturday following reports of a crash involving a blue MG HS and a 49-year-old male pedestrian.

The man was taken to hospital after the collision, where he later died from his injuries.

The 35-year-old female driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police Scotland say enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sergeant Fraser Mitchell said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to contact us, especially those who may have dash cam footage that could assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0074 of 11 April, 2026.”
