Oasis mania set to rock Edinburgh: What residents and visitors need to know
It's a week to go until Oasis arrive in the capital
With just one week to go until legendary Britpop band Oasis bring their much-anticipated Live 25 tour to Edinburgh, preparations are in full swing to manage the huge crowds expected across the city.
The sold-out gigs at Murrayfield Stadium on Friday 8, Saturday 9, and Tuesday 12 August will be the band’s first shows in the capital since 2009 - with a whopping 210,000 fans expected over the three nights.
City of Edinburgh Council is working closely with partners to ensure everything runs smoothly, both for concertgoers and local residents.
Council Leader Jane Meagher said excitement is building across the city: “With all of our partners, we’ve been planning for this for some time to make sure we’re ready to welcome thousands of Oasis fans over three nights.”
Extra trains, trams and buses will be running to help with demand - not just for the concerts but also for the city’s packed summer festival season.
Residents living near Murrayfield are being advised to plan ahead, with the council pledging to keep disruption to a minimum. There will be additional litter collections after each show and a clean-up team will be on hand in surrounding areas, including Roseburn Park.
Cllr Meagher added: “Whilst we relish hosting the biggest and best events, it’s important to remember our residents. We’re urging people to only travel to Murrayfield and the surrounding area if you have a ticket.”
The message is clear: Come prepared, be respectful, and enjoy the show - but don’t Roll With It unless you’ve got your hands on a golden ticket.
