Man who stabbed wife to death in Edinburgh jailed for life
A man who murdered his wife in Edinburgh has been jailed for life.
Momodou Bobb admitted killing his wife Ndata Bobb at their home on Restalrig Avenue in the early hours of 28 August 2025.
The 56-year-old attacked the mother-of-four with two knives, causing more than 22 injuries. A child inside the property called 999, with emergency services arriving shortly after 1am.
Despite efforts by medically-trained police officers and paramedics, the 42-year-old was pronounced dead at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh around two hours later.
Bobb, who had knife wounds to his hands, told officers he had fought with his wife that night. He was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder.
At the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday, Bobb was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years and eight months behind bars.
Moira Orr, who leads on homicide for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, said Ndata Bobb had been murdered “in her own home - a place where she had every right to be safe.”
She added: “His deliberate actions have taken the life of a much loved mother and sister.
“Her death has had a profound and devastating impact on her family, bringing unimaginable grief and trauma.
“This case is another stark reminder of the harm caused by violence against women and girls.”
