Man jailed for 9 years for campaign of violence in Ayrshire and West Lothian

A man is starting a 9 year jail term for a campaign of sexual violence against women in Ayrshire and West Lothian.

Thirty-year-old Kyle McDonald preyed on his victims between 2015 and 2023 and has been given life long non-harassment orders preventing him from contacting them.

He's also been placed on the sex offenders register infefinitely.

MacDonald’s crimes included rape, sexual assault and assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.

Detective Sergeant Lucy Mason said: “MacDonald carried out a sustained pattern of abuse over many years and will now face the consequences for his reprehensible actions.

“I would like to thank the women for their bravery in coming forward and reporting the abuse that they suffered. They were instrumental in achieving this outcome.

“Police Scotland takes all reports of sexual abuse and violence seriously, no matter how much time has passed.

“I would encourage anyone who has or is experiencing abuse to please report it. You will be listened to and supported, and we will thoroughly investigate to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
