Man and dog dead after fire in Glenrothes flats

A man and a dog have died after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Fife early on Christmas Eve.

Firefighters were called out to Brodie Court in Glenrothes just after 1.20am.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

A joint investigation with the police is now under way to determine the cause of the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 1.30am on Wednesday December 24 2025, we were called to a report of a fire at a property in the Brodie Court area of Glenrothes.

"Emergency services attended and a man was found within the property. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog also died as a result of the fire.

"A joint investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We mobilised three appliances from Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy fire stations."

The fire crews extinguished the flames and left the scene at about 3.15am.
