Man dies after van crashes into parked car in East Lothian
A man has died following a crash in Tranent, and police are appealing for information.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the A199 Haddington Road around 12.05pm on Tuesday after a collision involving a white Vauxhall Vivaro and a parked blue Citroen C3 Aircross.
The 55-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he later died.
No one else was injured.
The road was closed while crash investigation work and vehicle recovery took place, before reopening around 3.30pm.
Sergeant Jamie Humpage said officers’ thoughts are with the man’s family and friends.
He added that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and urged anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have dash-cam footage, to come forward.
