A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a death in Edinburgh city centre almost a year ago.

Emergency services were called to Princes Street at around 6am on June 25, 2025, following reports of an unresponsive man.

A 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A tent was erected around the body and Princes Street was closed while officers carried out enquiries.

Police Scotland said a 36-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the death.

He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
