A Kirkcaldy man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a woman after she gave him shelter in her home.

Adrian Kolczak, 35, was found shivering in his car in the early hours after he'd been thrown out by his girlfriend.

The woman invited him in, but he attacked her as she went to bed.

Kolczak pled guilty to the March 2023 attack at a hearing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in April this year.

At the same court on Monday, he was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work, placed under supervision for two years, and put on the sex offenders register.

Procurator Fiscal for Tayside, Central and Fife, Helen Nisbet, said: “Adrian Kolczak showed cynical contempt for a woman who offered him shelter and safety in her own home.

“Thanks to this victim reporting this distressing crime, this man has been held to account for his actions.

“Any sexual exploitation or assault of members of our communities will never be tolerated.

“I would urge anyone else who has been a victim to come forward, report to the police and seek support.”
