Gang of youths on murder bid charges after Ayrshire attack

A gang of eight youths have been arrested on attempted murder charges after a brutal attack at Kilmarnock bus station last night.

The 29- year-old victim was attacked around 9:45pm and was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45pm on Friday, 20 March, 2026, a 29-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the Green Street area of Kilmarnock.

“He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

“The assault is being treated as attempted murder and seven male youths, aged between 12 and 17, and a 16-year-old female have been arrested and charged in connection. All were released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.

"A report will be submitted to the relevant authorities."
