Dramatic new images show the scale of the fire which left one of Edinburgh's best known landmarks shrouded in smoke.
Firefighters battled through the night to contain the blaze, which broke out in Holyrood Park last night (Sunday).
The flames could be seen lapping the foot of Arthur's Seat from across the city.
Six appliances remained on scene around 6.30am this morning - 12 hours after the alarm was first raised.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received the first call around 6.36pm on Sunday.
It followed warnings of a "very high wildfire risk" across the central Highlands, and southern and eastern Scotland.
And came as fire crews continue to battle a wildfire in the Cairngorms, which has been burning since Wednesday.
A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.38pm on Sunday, July 19th, to reports of a fire in the open at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and crews are still at the scene.
“There are no reported casualties.”
Police have confirmed Queen's Drive in Edinburgh remains closed while emergency services remain on scene.
"The public should continue to avoid the area," a spokesperson for the force added.
"Residents in the local area should keep windows and doors closed."
