Hibs have parted company with head coach David Gray following a downturn in results and performances.

The Easter Road club confirmed Gray has left after more than two years in charge, bringing his 12-year association with Hibs to an end.

Assistant head coach Liam Craig and goalkeeping coach Craig Samson have also departed.

Gray took over as permanent head coach in the summer of 2024 and led Hibs to a third-place Premiership finish in his first season, before securing European football again with a fifth-place finish last term.

But the club has now decided to make a change following a poor run of form.

Executive chairman Ian Gordon said: “Ultimately, this is a decision that we have not taken lightly, but unfortunately, one as a Board we had to make due to the recent downturn of results and performances.”

Gray leaves having overseen 107 games as head coach, winning 43, drawing 29 and losing 35.

The Edinburgh-born 38-year-old had already secured legendary status at Easter Road during his playing career.

He joined Hibs in 2014 and captained the club to its historic Scottish Cup triumph two years later, scoring the stoppage-time winner against Rangers at Hampden to end a 114-year wait for the trophy.

Gray went on to make 177 appearances for Hibs before retiring in 2021 and joining the coaching staff.

Gordon described him as an “inspirational figure” who had delivered “incredible moments” for supporters.

John Potter will take interim charge for Saturday's Premiership match against Aberdeen.

Hibs say a new permanent head coach will be announced in due course.
