Hammer-wielding robber in balaclava targets man on Livingston footpath

A robber armed with a suspected hammer struck a man during an attack on a footpath in Livingston.

The incident happened between 10pm and 11.30pm on Tuesday on a path beside the railway line between St Enoch Crescent and Haymarket Crescent.

The male victim was approached by a man who hit him with an object, believed to be a hammer, before stealing his wallet. The suspect then made off in the direction of Deans.

He is described as around 6ft tall, of slim build, and was wearing all dark clothing along with a balaclava.

Detective Constable Lyndsay McKinnon said enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and appealed for information.

She urged anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen someone matching the description, to come forward.

Police are also asking anyone with relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch.
