Elderly woman seriously injured after struck by car in Edinburgh

An 80-year-old woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 12.30pm on Monday on Ashley Terrace and involved a black BMW 118i Sport.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. The female driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours while crash investigations were carried out and reopened around 5pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from the area.

Sergeant Paul Ewing said:

“Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash. I would appeal to anyone with any information to please contact police.

“I’m also keen to speak to any drivers who may have dash-cam footage which could help our investigation.”
