Police in Edinburgh have recovered drugs with a street value of up to £74,000 and arrested several people following a major operation in the Hailesland area.

Acting on concerns raised by the local community, officers carried out a series of patrols and executed multiple warrants between Friday 1 August and Thursday 18 August.

During the operation, cocaine and cannabis were seized from an address on Hailesland Grove, leading to the arrest and charging of a man and woman, both aged 21.

In total, six vehicles suspected of being involved in criminal activity were seized, and 20 stop and searches took place.

Police say five outstanding arrest warrants were also executed, resulting in six people being charged with a total of thirty two offences.

Chief Inspector Niven Bull, local area commander, praised the community for their cooperation and said regular police activity would continue in Wester Hailes. He also encouraged anyone with information or concerns to contact Police Scotland or Crimestoppers anonymously.
