The family of a 17-year-old boy who died in a crash on a rural road in Fife have said they are “devastated”.
Kerr Paterson, 17, from Saline was pronounced dead at the scene on the B914 near Kelty at about 2.25am on Sunday.
Police said a yellow Volkswagen Golf and a blue Toyota Aygo were involved, and a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the crash.
“Kerr was a wonderful, hardworking young man with a bright future ahead of him,” his family said in a statement.
“He meant the world to us, his parents, his two brothers and sister, and to his many family and friends, and we are struggling to come to terms with this tragic loss.
“We have been overwhelmed by the messages of love, support, and condolences we have received, and we thank everyone for their kindness.
“As a family, we respectfully ask that our privacy is respected as we grieve, support one another, and remember Kerr.”
The family added that Kerr had a “deep passion” for stock car racing, and that he was proud of what he achieved in the sport.
They also thanked police for their “kindness, compassion, and professionalism”.
Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Kerr and they have asked for time to come to terms with what has happened.
“We are continuing to appeal for information and asking anyone who can assist and who has not yet spoken to officers to get in touch.
“If you were driving in the area at the time please check any dash-cam footage you might have to see if something has been captured that could help with our investigation.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0511 of Sunday July 5.
