Celtic have appealed the red card given to defender Auston Trusty during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Trusty was initially shown a yellow card for a last-man challenge on striker Pierre Kabore by referee Steven McLean.

VAR John Beaton advised McLean to review the incident on the pitch side monitor, and it was then upgraded to a sending off.

Celtic were leading 2-1 at the time, with under 15 minutes of the match left to play.

The draw meant Hearts remained six points above Celtic at the top of the league.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill was riled by the decision.

He said: "Obviously, VAR's re-refereeing the game.

"First of all, the ball is going away from goal, so the player has to get a hold of that and control it. And secondly, and more importantly, is that we've got someone covering."

Hearts boss Derek McInnes felt differently however

“Celtic don't get red cards domestically. It was a bit of a shock when VAR turned it and made it a red", said McInnes.

"But for me it looked like a red card offence.”
