A major police operation in Fife has seen 23 people arrested and charged following a wave of violent incidents involving teenagers.

In one attack on Thursday, 10 April, four boys aged 16 and under were seriously assaulted by a larger group on Pettycur Road in Kinghorn. The victims were rushed to Victoria Hospital and have since been discharged.

Nineteen teenagers - all aged 14 to 16 - have now been charged with a string of offences including serious assault, carrying weapons, abduction, mobbing, and robbery. All have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

In a separate incident in Ravenscraig Park, Kirkcaldy, on Friday, 25 April, a 16-year-old boy was injured in what police are treating as an attempted murder. An 18-year-old man and three male youths have been charged in connection with the case. The adult appeared in court last week while the others have also been reported to prosecutors.

Chief Inspector Scott Davidson praised his officers for their swift work: “Both of these incidents were distressing and extremely violent. There is no place for this kind of behaviour in our community.

“I ask parents - do you know where your children are and who they’re with? The decisions they make now could affect the rest of their lives.”

He warned that with warmer weather, anti-social behaviour typically rises - and police will continue working to bring offenders to justice.
