Thursday 30th October 2025 - what a day for our very own Boogie and Arlene! The award-winning duo from Boogie in the Morning swapped their Forth 1 studio for the grand stage at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall - to pick up honorary doctorates from Edinburgh Napier University.

The university recognised the pair for their incredible broadcasting careers and their massive contribution to charity over the years.

After wrapping up their breakfast show (with Producer Marty, of course!), they made the short trip down to Usher Hall where they were awarded the titles of Doctors of the University.

Boogie said:

β€œThe ceremony was such a special occasion. We’ve met so many amazing people today and want to say a huge thanks to everyone at Edinburgh Napier University.”

Arlene added:

β€œI’m deeply honoured. It was such an emotional experience - especially with my parents there. I never thought they’d get to see something like this. It’s been a proud moment for them and for me.”

Geoff Day, Director of Marketing and External Relations at ENU, praised the pair, saying:

β€œBoogie and Arlene have been welcome guests at breakfast tables across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and beyond for nearly 20 years. They’re fun, down-to-earth, and deeply rooted in their community - everything Edinburgh Napier stands for.”

He also highlighted their ability to connect with everyone - whether it’s Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, or Colin from Leith - and applauded their β€œgrit, graft and gumption.”

Originally from the Scottish Borders, Andrew Bouglas (aka Boogie) started out working for Pringle before jumping into radio at Radio Borders back in 1991. After stints at Northsound and Radio Forth, he’s now been waking up Scotland on Forth 1 since 2001.

Arlene Stuart began her career at Grampian Television and quickly became a familiar face on shows like Country Matters and The River. She’s also a long-running presenter on Landward - and an all-round Scottish TV and radio favourite.

Boogie and Arlene teamed up in 2008, and the rest is radio history! As well as the hugely popular Boogie in the Morning, they host the Forth Awards every year - also at Usher Hall - and have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Cash for Kids, with Boogie even serving on the charity’s board.

On top of that, Boogie took on the Edinburgh Marathon in 2024 with the β€œForth 100” - a team of first-time runners who together raised Β£160,000 for local causes. He’s also fundraised for Crohn’s Disease charities after being diagnosed himself back in 1994.

Arlene’s equally passionate about giving back, supporting charities including Age Scotland, Jak’s Den, and several NHS and community groups.

From early morning laughs to late-night fundraising, these two are true local legends - and now, they’re Doctor Boogie and Doctor Arlene! πŸŽ‰
