Tate McRae's new song 'Housewife' has arrived with the official music video, filmed in the south of France. 'Housewife' is the first song of the year for the 23-year-old, whose most recent album was her third - 'So Close to What', released in 2025. Ahead of the song's release, Tate described the song as "about a woman who can’t be contained".

After announcing the new song on 7th October, Tate revealed more about the song in an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She said she was excited to be releasing music, as she hasn't for a while, continuing: "It’s kind of about a woman who can’t be contained."

The singer also revealed that she had been teasing the song for a while, but no one had noticed! "We drop Easter eggs all the time, and they get none of them!" she joked.

"Like, they'll always catch on to, like, things that are completely wrong. Like, they'll be like, 'Oh, she wore a sunglass, so her next single is called 'Sunglass'." I'm like, what?!"

Tate added: "And so this ('Housewife') was literally in my Lolla (Lollapalooza) set. Like, it said 'Housewife' when the set started... Yeah, and it was like three months ago!"
