Suspect to face court after hot water thrown over man

He is expected to face Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday

A man is due to appear before court on Saturday after hot water was thrown over a man at a Co Tyrone court.

The victim was treated in hospital for burn injuries to his face and upper body following the incident at Strabane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Police said on Friday a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent.

Later on Friday, the 34-year-old was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is expected to face Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

A police spokesperson added: “As is normal procedure, all charges are reviewed by the PPS.”
