An arrest has been made after hot water was thrown over a man at a Co Tyrone court.

An arrest was made today (Friday) after a hot water was thrown over a man in Strabane Magistrates Court.

The victim was treated in hospital for burn injuries to his face and upper body following the incident yesterday.

The PSNI said a 34-year-old man had been arrested.

A spokesperson said: “The suspect, aged 34, has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent.

“He remains in custody at this time.”

Police also reiterated their appeal for information or footage which may have captured the suspect leaving the scene. Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101, quoting reference 409 of April 16.
