Co Down star Sophie Lennon lands dream role in new Cheetah Girls movie
It's just been announced that Sophie Lennon from Mayobridge, Newry will star in the exciting new Disney+ project 'The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen'.
Raven-Symoné, who returns to her role as Galleria alongside Adrienne Bailon returning as Chanel. Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter are set to reprise their roles as Dorothea and Juanita, while Sabrina Bryan will make a special appearance as Dorinda, and Sophia Bush is set to appear in a supporting role as Jennifré.
A new cast of talented young actresses stars in the movie alongside Sophie who will play Brooklyn - Leah Sava’ Jeffries as Faith, Carmen Sanchez as Dior, and Kaileen Chang as Ruby.
What is 'The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen' about?
The story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Symoné) and Chanel (Bailon), alongside Galleria's daughter Faith (Jeffries) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.
Along the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice, and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls.
Sophie broke the news to her 134K Instagram followers earlier today, writing "THE PARTY’S JUST BEGUN!!! 🎉🐆🐾 omgg I can’t believe i’m a ‘CHEETAH GIRL’ the little girl inside of me is screaming right now 🥹💋
"If you had told me a year ago i was gonna be a cheetah girl i wouldn’t have believed it i grew up watching these movies and this is just crazyyy!! 😭 Disney has always been my biggest dream, but always felt impossible as i come from a super small town in ireland, but this opportunity has made me realise that everything is possible and always chase your dreams ⭐️

Sophie is no stranger to the stage and screen - back in 2022 Sophie represented Ireland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and joined the cast of the 30th Anniversary performance of ‘The Children of Eden’ in London’s West End.
