Former Rangers striker Peter Lovenkrands has backed countryman Andreas Skov Olsen to rediscover his top form at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl bolstered his squad in the January transfer window but of the four new additions - including striker Ryan Naderi, midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and defender Tuur Rommens - the 26-year-old Denmark international has arguably been the one who has found it the most difficult to adapt to life at Ibrox.

Despite the fanfare around his loan move from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg with an option to buy for a reported £8million, Skov Olsen has come up with just one goal in seven appearances, with Light Blues fans looking for more as the season comes to the business end.

Lovenkrands, 46, who played for the Gers between 2000 and 2006 and who scored a last-gasp winner against Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup final against Celtic at Hampden, was at the national stadium to promote Premier Sports' live and exclusive coverage of the Old Firm Scottish Gas Scottish Cup quarter-final tie at Ibrox on Sunday.

The former Denmark, Newcastle and Birmingham player was asked about Skov Olsen's contribution so far and said: "I think he's trying to figure out what he's doing, trying to find his feet.

"It's a hard one for him because it's a short loan term so far.

"It's one where everybody expects him to come in and do something from the start.

"He had not really played that much before. It had been a while since he had.

"I know what he can do. I've seen it in Denmark, previously, he scored 20-odd goals in a season, and he is a goal-scorer.

"He can score goals and create assists, and he just needs to get back to that, and it's just a matter of time before he hits the ground running again.

"It's not easy to expect him to come in and just be amazing from the start.

"It took me a while to get into the whole thing and probably doesn't help that he has Brian Laudrup (as a former Danish player who remains a hero at Ibrox).

"I was the same when I came and it is the worst thing for a Danish winger to come in, especially a younger boy, to come in to Rangers and everybody's expecting them to be as good as Brian Laudrup, who's probably the third best ever Danish player.

"That pressure doesn't help.

"But he has potential to be great. He has the potential to be very, very good.

"He needs a game where everything clicks for him. If he gets that wee goal and plays a good game that will give him confidence to build on that."
