Kasper Hogh all smiles as Celtic support breaks through language barrier
Kasper Hogh feels the support of the Celtic fans will help bring out the best in him.
The travelling fans chanted the Dane’s name as he got off the mark in a Celtic jersey with a first-half hat-trick in a 5-1 win at Kilmarnock.
The summer signing from Bodo/Glimt said: “I try to recognise it, but I’m not the best at Scottish. But I hear they shouted some of my name, so I smiled on the pitch when I heard it.
“It’s a massive support. When I heard they were screaming and also when we scored the other goals, I was just so happy. And you could see it on the pitch.”
The 25-year-old netted two close-range headers and a first-time finish with the assists coming from Arne Engels, Benjamin Nygren and Camilo Duran.
“There were some great assists from the boys,” he said. “The first one was almost in the goal, so I just had to be there.
“They are some good footballers. And they also have to learn me, like my patterns, so it’s just nice that I can be there and touch it in the goal.”
The players got a pre-match team talk at their hotel from manager Martin O’Neill, who was absent at Rugby Park as he recovers from a midweek hospital stay.
“It was so nice to see him,” Hogh said. “First of all, the most important thing is that he’s doing good. Like, the football is second. And when we saw him there was also an extra team spirit.
“I hope he was happy with the performance and the result.”
