Derek McInnes backs Daisuke Yokota to 'make things happen' for Rangers
Derek McInnes has backed Daisuke Yokota to “make things happen” for Rangers after the Japanese winger joined the Ibrox club on a three-year contract.
The 26-year-old becomes Gers’ ninth signing of the summer, arriving from Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96 for an undisclosed fee.
Yokota has spent his entire senior career in Europe after joining the FSV Frankfurt academy as an 18-year-old and then going on to play in Latvia, Poland and Belgium.
Manager McInnes, who had previously spoken of the need to add creativity to his squad, told Gers’ website: “We are really pleased to bring Daisuke to the club.
“He is a player we have been aware of for some time, and he brings qualities that we believe will really strengthen our attacking options.
“At 26, he has gained valuable experience across a number of different leagues in Europe. He is quick, direct and has the ability to make things happen in the final third.
“We are continuing to strengthen the squad in key areas, and I am looking forward to welcoming Daisuke to Rangers and working with him.”
Yokota could be included in Rangers’ Europa League squad as they prepare to face Jagiellonia Bialystok in Poland in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie on Thursday.
