Vaclav Cerny leaves Rangers along with Ianis Hagi and Leon Balogun
Tom Lawrence has also gone with Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Rafael Fernandes returning to parent clubs
Vaclav Cerny won’t be at Rangers next season and fans favourites Ianis Hagi and Leon Balogun have also left the club.
Tom Lawrence has also not been offered a new contract and two other peripheral loan players - Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Rafael Fernandes – are returning to their clubs.
Czech international Cerny has been a huge success in a fairly disastrous season for Rangers, who finished 17 points behind rivals Celtic and were knocked out of the Scottish Cup at home by Queen’s Park.
He scored 18 goals, creating 10, in 52 appearances. Six of those goals came in the UEFA Europa League, most notably his fabulous double away to Fenerbahce in the round of 16.
Many fans were hoping his move from Wolfsburg could be made permanent but it would have involved a major transfer fee. Rangers aren’t commenting on that.
Balogun took to social media earlier to express his sadness at being unable to properly bid farewell to the supporters after his second spell at the club came to an end.
Rangers said on Hagi: “After various conversations, both the club and Ianis have decided to part ways and mutually agreed to bring their time together to an end, after years full of great achievements and tough moments, always driven by the same ambition and commitment to the team. “
