The 33-year old has signed a deal until the end of the season to provide competition for Viljami Sinisalo.
Sinisalo has been the number one at Parkhead following Kasper Schmeichel's injury last season which ultimately led to his retirement.
Johnstone came through the ranks at Manchester United as a youngster and eventually joined West Brom in 2018 following various loan spells.

The stopper was included in England's squad for Euro 2020 and has been capped four times by his country.
