Woman jailed for 21 years for killing neighbour in Rutherglen
Clare Kilduff pretended she had found her dead when she called police.
A woman has been jailed for 21 years for murdering her neighbour, Ann Coll, in Rutherglen last year after stealing £300 from her bank account.
Clare Kilduff was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow earlier after being convicted yesterday.
Sixty-one year-old Ann Coll was found with serious injuries at a flat on Newfield Place, Rutherglen, around 12.45am on Friday, 22 December, 2023.
Kilduff later went on to lie in a 999 call that she had come up and found the 61-year-old in a pool of blood in her own flat.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Superintendent Lynsey Watters said: "This was a violent and shocking attack which has been devastating for Ann's family and friends.
"While no outcome can truly ease the pain of their loss, we hope this sentencing will bring some comfort to her loved ones as Kilduff faces the consequences of her actions.
"I would like to thank members of the community for their support and assistance during our investigation.
"Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice."
