Woman convicted of murder in Rutherglen

A 40-year-old woman has pled guilty to the murder of Ann Coll in Rutherglen.

Clare Kilduff was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, 18 May, 2026. She is due to be sentenced on Tuesday, 19 May, 2026.

Ann Coll, aged 61, was found with serious injuries at a flat on Newfield Place, Rutherglen, around 12.45am on Friday, 22 December, 2023. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a robust investigation, Clare Kilduff was traced and arrested on Friday, 2 February, 2024 before appearing at court charged with Ann’s murder.

Detective Superintendent Lynsey Watters said: “This was a violent and shocking attack which has been devastating for Ann’s family and friends.

“While no outcome can truly ease the pain of their loss, we hope this conviction will bring some comfort to her loved ones as Kilduff faces the consequences of her actions.

“I would like to thank members of the community for their support and assistance during our investigation.

“Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated in our communities and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”
