Woman arrested following death of pensioner in Hamilton

The 49-year-old is due to appear in Hamilton Sheriff court today

A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner in Hamilton.

The 78-year-old woman died after being found with serious injuries in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025.

She has been named as Susan Sergison from Hamilton.

The 49-year-old is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, 17 January 2025.

Area Commander Chief Inspector Neil Smith said: "My thoughts are with Susan's family and friends at this very difficult time and our officers will continue to support them as this investigation continues.

"I am aware that this incident will be of concern to the community in Hamilton but I would like to reassure people that we have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation and there is no threat to the wider community.

"Officers will remain in the area as enquiries are carried out and anyone with any concerns, can approach them."
