A woman has appeared in court accused of throwing ammonia on another woman in Glasgow city centre last night.

Gwen Dempster, 51, allegedly assaulted Lee McCluskey, 46, in Glasgow city centre's Buchanan Street on November 9 2025.

Court papers state that Dempster, of the city's Govan, acted in an aggressive manner and argued with Miss McCluskey.

It is then alleged that Dempster swore and "discharged a quantity of ammonia or a similar corrosive substance from a bottle" at her.

This is said to have been to Miss McCluskey's injury, impairment and to the danger of her life.

Dempster faces a second charge of possession of a quantity of ammonia in a public place in Buchanan Street and elsewhere unknown to the prosecutor.

Another charge says that Dempster provided false details to the police in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

A final allegation stated Dempster behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards the constables.

It is claimed that she acted in an aggressive manner, shouted, swore as well as uttered offensive and derogatory remarks towards them.

Dempster made no plea today/yesterday at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.

She was represented by her lawyer Harvie Diamond.

Dempster was remanded into custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff David Hall.

She will appear at court again within the next eight days.
