Teenage boy in hospital after Motherwell crash

He was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow with serious injuries where his condition is described as critical.

A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being involved in a crash in Motherwell yesterday afternoon.

It happened on Hamilton Road at the junction with Nigel Street around 5.05pm and involved a silver Volvo single deck bus and a pedestrian.

He was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow with serious injuries where his condition is described as critical.

No one else was injured.

The road was closed and re-opened around 8.30pm.

Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to the public for information.

“If you saw anything then please get in touch. We are also asking drivers to check dash-cam to see if there is something recorded that could help our investigation.”
