Second 12-year-old boy charged in connection with Kilmarnock fire

Both children will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court later this month

Police investigating a major fire that tore through a four-storey building in Kilmarnock on Monday have arrested and charged a second 12-year-old boy.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze on King Street at around 9.30pm on Monday July 14th.

No injuries were reported but the building was completely destroyed.

On Thursday police confirmed a 12-year-old boy had been arrested and charged in connection, and on Friday a second youth, also 12, was charged.

Both are due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.

Two 11-year-old boys have also been traced in connection with the fire and reports will be submitted to relevant authorities.
