Police are searching for two masked men who broke into a home and threatened the occupants just days before Christmas.

Two men wearing balaclavas forced entry into a property on Greenhill Avenue in Gartcosh, North Lanarkshire at around 10.25pm on Monday 22 Dec.

One of them was armed with a bladed weapon, and both were dressed in black.

Officers say the break-in is being treated as an attempted robbery, as the intruders “made demands”, however they left without taking anything and fled in a silver saloon type car.

The people in the house at the time were not injured, but were said to be “terrified”.

Police appeal

Detective Constable Scott Brown said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for two people in their own home.

"Extensive inquiries are ongoing, including door-to-door and CCTV footage examination, and we are now appealing for the help of the public.

"If you may have witnessed anything, or have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, please contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3579 of December 22.
