Police investigating attempted murder inside Greenock pub

A 60 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital

A 60 year old man in being treated in hospital after an attempted murder in Greenock on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened around 6.30pm on September 17 in a pub on Cathcart Street.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition has been described as serious.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: "The family of the man are being supported by police and being kept up to date with the ongoing investigation.

ā€œI am appealing to anyone that can help with our investigation to come forward.

"We believe there were a number of people within the premises at the time and I would appeal to anyone who was there on Tuesday night to speak to us if you have not already done so."

ā€œThose with information can speak to officers by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0962 of 18 September.

ā€œAlternatively, you can make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.ā€
