Murder probe starts into death of young Motherwell dad
A postmortem suggests he was shot.
A murder investigation is underway into the death of a 26-year-old dad from Motherwell.
Jordan Gray was found dead by officers on Monday December 15 around 4.30pm at an address on Shields Court.
They believe he died some time between Sunday night and the early hours of Monday morning and a postmortem examination suggests he was shot.
His mother, Lynn Gray, said "We as a family are devastated at the loss of Jordan.
"We would appreciate some privacy and time to grieve. If anyone has any information please come forward."
Jordan's father John Lindsay added: "Jordan was a loving and doting father and son. Please if anyone has any information, however large or small, contact police."
Detective Superintendent Grant Hendry, Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with Jordan’s family and friends at what is an extremely difficult time.
"We are offering them support as our investigation progresses.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing and we have a dedicated team of specialist officers working through all lines of enquiry.
“I’d like to thank the community for their support and information so far.
"It may be that details of who is responsible for Jordan’s death are known in the local area, and I appeal directly to anyone who knows or has heard something, to report it to us.
“We continue to ask for information on a person seen in the Shields Court area around 10.35pm on Sunday night.
"They were wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and dark trousers. Anyone with information on this person is urged to contact the investigation team.”
An online portal has been set up to encourage members of the public to submit information directly to officers.
The Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) is a website that gives the public access to a form to pass information, images and footage directly to the Major Investigation Team.
Alternatively, you can contact 101 quoting reference 2147 of Monday, 15 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Local Area Commander, Chief Inspector Steven Conn, said: “Incidents like this in our community are shocking but rare. With the assistance of the Major Investigation Team, we’re doing all we can to get answers for Jordan’s family.
“We have, and will continue to have, an increased police presence in the area for public reassurance. If you have concerns, please speak to our officers.”
