The sister of a Glasgow man who has vanished in Portugal on a stag-do says her mother has flown to the Algarve resort to try to find him.

Thirty-eight year-old Greg Monks arrived in the town of Albufeira on Tuesday night before heading out to the main strip.

He was last in touch with his girlfriend around 11pm that night before later going missing.

Jillian Monks told Clyde 1: "My mum had a meeting with Portuguese police this morning who've confirmed they are going to widen the search area for him.

"This is so out of character for Greg because he is a hard-working person who usually just keeps himself to himself.

"I am absolutely devastated and just want him home."

Greg told his friends he was leaving to go back to their accommodation around 2am on Wednesday morning.

Jillian has a message for other holidaymakers staying in the resort that night.

She added: "I'd really like people to just look through their pictures to see if we can get an update of what he looked like that night.

"We don't even know what he was wearing when he went out because it was his first night.

"If he even happens to be in the background of any pictures or videos then that would help us."
