Man seriously assaulted in Govan

Detectives in Glasgow are appealing for information following a serious assault in Govan.

The incident happened around 3am on Sunday, 19 July, 2026, in the Rathlin Street area, where a corrosive substance was thrown over a 50-year-old man. He was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged in his late thirties to early forties, around 5ft11 in height and of medium build. He had dark brown/black hair which was curly at the top and shorter at the sides.

Detective Constable Mark Garner said: “We believe this was a targeted incident and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, saw what happened or heard a disturbance, to get in touch.

“I am also asking anyone who has private CCTV or doorbell footage in the area to review this for anything which may assist our enquiries.”
