Man in serious condition after being hit by a car on Glasgow motorway

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car on a Glasgow motorway on Saturday evening.

The incident happened on the M74 southbound near Tradeston at around 6.55pm on Saturday, between Junction 1 and 1A.

It involved a 36 year old man and a black Volkswagon ID5.

The man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition has been described as serious but stable.

No one else was injured.

The motorway was closed for around four hours and reopened at 11.20pm.

Police appeal

Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area at the time, including on the flyover on Cathcart Road, who may have seen what happened.

“We are also asking anyone driving in the area to check any dash-cam they have to see if they have captured something that could assist with our investigation.”
