Man dies in one-car crash in South Lanarkshire

Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing

Police are appealing to the public for information after a fatal crash on the M74 near Abington on Friday morning.

The incident happened around 5am on the northbound carriageway four miles from Junction 13 and involved one vehicle, a silver Mazda 2.

Emergency services pronounced a 24-year-old man dead at the scene, his next of kin have been made aware.

Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.”
