Man charged over attempted murder of two officers in Larkhall
The 32-year-old was stopped on the M74 yesterday over the incident in July.
A man has been arrested and charged over the attempted murder of two officers in Larkhall last month.
They were carrying out inquiries at a property on Glen Avenue around 2.10pm when the vehicle was driven deliberately at them around 2.10pm on Saturday July 25.
The 41-year-old and 43-year-old were taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
Yesterday, a car was stopped on the M74 southbound and a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
A 59-year-old woman was also arrested and charged in connection with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Both are due to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Detective Inspector Alister Thom said “This act of violence left two officers, who were simply carrying out their duties, seriously injured.
“While they have since been discharged from hospital, they will remain unfit for duty for a prolonged period, and our thoughts continue to be with them at this time.
“An extensive investigation has been ongoing with detectives searching more than 100 properties throughout Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders. We’ve also reviewed a significant amount of CCTV footage as well as carrying out door-to-door enquiries.
“We’d like to thank members of the public for the information and support they provided during our investigation.”
