Man arrested on connection with serious sexual assault in Springburn Park
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault at Springburn Park in Glasgow.
A 16-year-old girl was assaulted in the park between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Friday, 26 June, 2026.
Police had issued a description of the man earlier in the week, describing him as being in his 30s, possibly European, with a tanned complexion and of average height and build.
He was said to be wearing a black baseball cap, black lightweight jacket and black trousers.
Detective Inspector Sharon McPeake said: “We understand this has been a concerning incident and I would take the opportunity to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation.
“We are continuing to engage with the local community and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to one of our officers.”
Detective Inspector Sharon McPeake described the incident as an "extremely shocking attack".
She also said the girl was receiving support from specialist officers.
