Man arrested after evading Greenock police in a dinghy
The man was arrested near Helensburgh after making his way across the Firth of Clyde to Gare Loch
A man who stabbed a police officer before attempting to evade officers in a dinghy has been arrested.
Police were called to the East India Harbour in Greenock at around 2.05am to reports of concern for a man there.
When he was traced there was a disturbance and an officer was stabbed, before the made off across the Firth of Clyde to Gare Loch in a small boat.
The 31 year old was later arrested at Rhu Marina near Helensburgh.
The injured officer was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and will be kept in for observation.
