A man has admitted to the brutal murder of his partner.
Ewan Methven killed 21 year old Phoenix Spencer Horn at her home in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire last November.
Prosecutors said the 27 year-old attacked Phoenix by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knives or knives. He also choked her.
Methven then spent two days trying to cover up the killing.
He severed Phoenix’s head and also tried to remove her limbs and torso from her body.
Methven then repeatedly pretended in texts to the young woman’s mother Alison Spencer that her daughter was “alive and well”.
This was all done to try avoid “arrest and prosecution” for the crime.
Methven today appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.
Members of Phoenix's grieving family were also present as Methven’s KC Tony Graham entered guilty pleas to charges of murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
This was accepted by advocate depute Chris McKenna.
The hearing, before judge Lord Matthews, continues.
A man has been convicted of the murder of Phoenix Spencer-Horn in East Kilbride.
Detective Chief Inspector Susie Cairns said: “My thoughts remain with Phoenix’s family and friends as they continue to try to come to terms with what happened.
“Methven now faces the consequences of his actions.
“Violence such as this is never acceptable in our communities, and we will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
