NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is cancelling all non-urgent outpatient appointments and elective hospital admissions scheduled for tomorrow.
Urgent and emergency care and essential maternity and community services will continue to be provided.
ScotRail has confirmed that no trains will run anywhere in Scotland, either.
It follows a review of forecasting across the country which the operator said is "much worse" than earlier predictions.
It has also been confirmed that all schools and nurseries across Glasgow and the West will close.
Councils have made the decision to protect children and staff from gusts of up to 100 miles per hour.
Anyone in the red alert zone - where there's a danger to life - will have received a government emergency alert to their phone.
