Glasgow road remains closed as crews respond to fire in four-storey block

Balmore Road is closed and some First Bus services are being re-routed.

Fire crews remain in the north of Glasgow tonight tackling a blaze in a four-storey building.

The alarm was raised around 1.07pm on Balmore Road which is closed in a number of directions including between Ashgill Road/ Hillend Road and Knapdale Street.

A number of First Bus services are also being re-routed and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

No casualties have been reported so far.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.07pm on Tuesday, 6 January, to reports of a dwelling fire on Balmore Road in Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and a height appliance to the scene, where firefighters are still working to extinguish a fire affecting a four-storey building.

“There are no reported casualties and crews remain at the scene.”
