Drivers should expect delays for the next eight weeks in Glasgow city centre, as major works start on Hope Street.

The busy route will be reduced down to one lane as sewer repairs get underway from Monday January 6 2025.

West Regent Lane is also closed - but footpaths and businesses will remain open.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “The work is urgently needed to address internal sewer flooding and we will do all that we can to carry it out as quickly and safely as possible.

“We appreciate it is going to be inconvenient for people living in and travelling through the city centre, but this really is the only way we can carry out the repair safely.

“We will work with affected businesses and residents to minimise the impact of the works and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
