UPDATE: Arrest after Cumbernauld death
John McMonigle was found dead in a house in the town

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of John McMonigle in Cumbernauld.
Around 9.20am on Wednesday, 15 July, 2026, the body of 45-year-old Mr McMonigle was found within a property in Glenhove Road.
Enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, senior investigating officer from the Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr McMonigle’s family at what is an extremely difficult time for them.
